Summary/Responsibilities of this position:
Business Unit / Department Mission: A Produce Sales Specialist sells produce to new and existing retail customers by performing the following duties:
-Must know the dimensions/scope of 700 product items
- Must be able to understand the origin of product as well as the use and cooking instruction for the products
- Must be able to adapt at out-of-hand sampling
- Ability to educate customers about all products in Produce Department including cooking techniques, preparation suggestions, and alternate uses of products
- Provides superlative customer service
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales
- Educates customers about selection, characteristics, and uses for produce
- Meets sales quotas as set by Lead and Produce Manager
- Records and tracks shrink in accordance to department procedure
- Stocks produce and prepares produce sections for next shift
- Samples, rotates, and culls produce
- Organizes product displays and prepares product samples
- Maintains sanitation in the department
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION PREFERRED
- Typically requires 2-5 years of related experience
- Previous produce experience required
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
- Lift 20 lbs or more on an occasional basis
